Even though components

on a

per project

basis

and

have

possess unique IDs, they are displayed as one if they

have

share the same name

, they will displayed in the dialog as one component.(warning) E.g. updating the name of a component will update the version name in all projects where a component with this name is available

Changing a version's name will update it across all projects where it is used.

Creating components

Creating Create a new component can be done by hitting version by clicking the Add component button in at the upper top right corner of the bulk change popup. A version can only be created if it is associated with at least one project.

Updating components

If you want to update the To update a component's name or description of a component, you can hit , click the Edit button next to each the displayed componentversion.

Components are grouped by name, not by IDAs mentioned above, the components are grouped by name and not by ID.

Editing a component that is related to several projects results in updating the component in each of that projects.

White spaces in component names:

Up to Until Jira version 8.12.0 it is possible to have , components names could include leading or trailing white spaces within the component name. If so, you will be notified about that in the UI.In this case components won't be displayed as one component, if they have the same name but one of them have leading or trailing white spaces in it. Such components won’t be grouped together even if they share the same name.

Adding or removing components

If you want to To add or remove a component from a project, you can just simply select the specific desired projects in from the select box next adjacent to the component.

Only specific projects displayed

You can only select those projects that are also selected in the filter at the top of the popup.

However, you can refine your selection inside the bulk change popup, too.

Deleting components

Components can easily be deleted , if they are unselected by deselecting them from every associated project.
