Using With Admin Toolbox it is possible to , you can efficiently perform bulk change actions for across all your components across all Jira projects in Jira projects! . These changes include:

  • Updating Update the name and description of a component.

  • Bulk adding Add a component to multiple projects.

  • Bulk removing Remove a component from multiple projects.

Access the Bulk change components popup

On the Projects page on the Advanced tab, you can select Bulk operations → Components to access the Bulk change popup.
It lists all components from the filtered projects as well as the projects each component exists in.

From there, you can create, update, and delete components as well as add or remove them to and from projects.

Grouped by name

All components in the popup are grouped by name.

Creating components

Creating a new component can be done by hitting the Add component button in the upper right corner of the bulk change popup.

If you want to update the name or description of a component, you can hit the Edit button next to each displayed component.

Changing a component's name will update it across all projects where it is used.

Only specific projects displayed

The popup initially displays only the projects as filtered for on the advanced tab. However, you can refine your selection inside the bulk change popup, too.

Create components

Create a new component by clicking the Add component button at the top right of the bulk change popup. A component can only be created if it is associated with at least one project.

Update components

To update a component's name or description, click the Edit button next to the displayed version.

Components are grouped by name, not by IDAs mentioned above, the components are grouped by name and not by ID.

Editing a component that is related to several projects results in updating the component in each of that projects.White spaces in component names

Up to Jira version 8.12.0 it is possible to have leading or trailing white spaces within the component name. If so, you will be notified about that in the UI.

In this case components won't be displayed as one component, if they have the same name but one of them have leading or trailing white spaces in it.

Add or remove components

To add or remove a component from a project, you can just simply select the specific desired projects in from the select box next adjacent to the component.

You can only select those projects that are also selected in the filter at the top of the popup.

However, you can refine your selection inside the bulk change popup, too.

Components can easily be deleted, if they are unselected
