With Admin Toolbox, you can efficiently perform bulk change across all components across all Jira projects in Jira projects. These changes include:

  • Updating the name and description of a component.

  • Adding a component to multiple projects.

  • Removing a component from multiple projects.

Grouped by name

All versions in the popup are grouped by name. Although versions are created per project and possess unique IDs, they are displayed as one if they share the same name.

Changing a version's name will update it across all projects where it is used.

Creating components

Create a new component by clicking the Add component button at the top right of the bulk change popup. A component can only be created if it is associated with at least one project.

Updating components

To update a component's name or description, click the Edit button next to the displayed version.

Components are grouped by name, not by ID.

Editing a component that is related to several projects results in updating the component in each of that projects.

White spaces in component names:

Until Jira version 8.12.0, component names could include leading or trailing white spaces. Such components won’t be grouped together even if they share the same name.

Adding or removing components

To add or remove a component from a project, simply select the desired projects from the select box adjacent to the component.

Only specific projects displayed

You can only select those projects that are also selected in the filter at the top of the popup.

However, you can refine your selection inside the bulk change popup, too.

Deleting components

Components can be deleted by deselecting them from every associated project.
