With Admin Toolbox, you can efficiently perform bulk change across all components across all Jira projects in Jira projects. These changes include:

  • Updating the name and description of a component.

  • Adding a component to multiple projects.

  • Removing a component from multiple projects.

Access the Bulk change components popup

On the Projects page on the Advanced tab, you can select Bulk operations → Components to access the Bulk change popup.
It lists all components from the filtered projects as well as the projects each component exists in.

From there, you can create, update, and delete components as well as add or remove them to and from projects.

Grouped by name

All components in the popup are grouped by name. Although components are created per project and possess unique IDs, they are displayed as one if they share the same name.

Changing a component's name will update it across all projects where it is used.

Only specific projects displayed

The popup initially displays only the projects as filtered for on the advanced tab. However, you can refine your selection inside the bulk change popup, too.

Create components

Create a new component by clicking the Add component button at the top right of the bulk change popup. A component can only be created if it is associated with at least one project.

Update components

To update a component's name or description, click the Edit button next to the displayed version.

Components are grouped by name, not by ID.

Editing a component that is related to several projects results in updating the component in each of that projects.
